Most commonly the Public Administrator is elected for 4 years to carry out assignments set forth in the state codes.
The most common duty is to administer estates when no other appropriate person is available such as an heir or willing person that is appropriate. Intestate estates being the most common assignments. Working with the court, they may order supervisions of estates, property, and persons as necessary.
